I do not know how this story is circulating, what i do know that Feroze Gandhy was definately a Parsi & lived in Kushroo Baug Colaba Mumbai If his father was as mentioned in this article a muslim than no way he could have lived in Khushroo Baug Feroze Gandhy's brother & sisters lived in Kushroo Baug,Indira Gandhy very often even as prime minister visited on unannounced her mother in law in mumbai i my self have seen her in the colony when she came to visit her mother-in- law, she also attended her nieces [Firoze's sisters wedding in Mumbai]Indira Gandhy would not have kept in touch with Firoze's family in kushroo baug if she had fathered Sanjay through Mohamed Younous as mentioned.[Feroze] He was very much in politics & part of the freedom struggle i believe some time after independence the congress party split & the swatantra party was formed Mr. Feroze Gandhy joined the Swantantra party & became the strongest critique of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's Policies,at the same time Jawharlal Nehru needed a consort/housekeeper & probable heir apparent & Daughter Indira became the natural choice & moved into his house due to Kamala Nehru's health.
So the marriage fell apart.
Sanjay was born in 1946 much before Independence when Firoze & Indira where very much together,the following apart happened much after independence.
The reason it is reported that both Nehru & Indira were relived At Ferozes death is probably by that time the marriage was over due to politics differences & Feroze as son in law was a big embarasement,the swantra party was very much a right wing leaning towards the US & national interest at that time was with the Russians which in hind sight was the correct thing to do.
If Rajive called himself a Parsi it is good for Parsis, but to the best of my knowledge his NAVJOTE ceremony which signifies a choice of following the religion was never performed,& he also thogh had a right to opt for the same never did.The reason the marriage of Feroze/ Indira was solomonised in the Hindu/Vedic customs was due to the fact that it could not be solomonised as per Parsi Zoroastrian rites, the second party not being a Parsi Zoroastrian,however it is correct to say the marriage should have first, been registered as a civil marriage & than any other rites could be performed which would make no difference,as this was not done it concludes that Feroze did not mind his children to be Hindus.Though Feroze Gandhy's RIGHTS & PRIVILAGES as a Parsi Zoroastrian could never be lost having been born a Parsi Zoroastrian,[in fact his last rites may have been performed as a Parsi Zorastrian]& if Rajive & Sanjay's Navjote had been conducted this right would also have devolved upon their children,& the children, children.provided they opt for their Navjote ceremonies.
I therefore conclude the article is incorrect & malicious in many areas & request this rejoinder be sent to the originators & also to people sent by you
